Heidelberg
What does Germany's oldest university, the Romans, and world class beer have in common? Their roots can all be found here. Heidelberg is a spectacular and quite possibly, my favorite city I've ever traversed full of exceptionally preserved neighborhoods, plentifully rewarding outdoor activities, and enough food and drink variety to last a lifetime. The Neckar River cuts through lush hillside full of generational homes, a storybook of a castle, and what could quite similarly be compared to as "The German Harvard", all stemming from an ancient Roman settlement in 80AD that evolved into a thriving community. Despite all the blood that's been spilt across its lands over the years, it is one of the few cities in the country that can say it never saw a bomb or bullet fly in within its boundaries during WWII.
Romance come to life
All Along the Watch Tower
The Walls Have Seen It All
Watching over the vast expanse of neighborhoods and town centers, Heidelberg's 800+ year old castle really captures the expanse of human history that has existed alongside this region of the Neckar, and it even boasts a 221,726 liter wine barrel below.

A Place For All
Marktplatz
The Marktplatz is a center of commerce for sinners and saints alike. Want to go seek forgiveness at the Church of the Holy Spirit? You've got it. Want to hit the bar and repeat what sent you to church in the first place? You're not gonna believe this..

You Shall Not Pass!
Die Alte Brücke
You wouldn't know it from the magnificent construction but, this bridge has been blown up. Alot. In fact it has been rebuilt over 9 times. But I suppose that's nothing in comparison to its 18th version counterpart in Frankfurt
