Strasbourg

What a place. Strasbourg just like Heidelberg, is another city of greatness born from Roman origin and the site of 5 centuries worth of evolutionary European architecture. Today it stands as the official home of European Parliament and one of the most impressive cathedrals you'll ever have the opportunity to see. It's hard to miss seeing as how you can hardly miss it looking upwards from just about any point in the city but should you find yourself distracted by Medieval timber framed buildings or the decadent restaurants inside them serving Franco-Germanic style hearty dishes, I'd understand.

A medieval time machine

A Gothic Masterpiece

1,000+ Years of Perserverance

Knights, a national revolution, bombs, Nazis, Al Qaeda, there's been a lot that's tried to takedown or take over the "Tree of God" as Goethe once referred to it as, and indeed far more history than I could ever cram into 2 sentences.

Meet Me On the South Side

The Portal of the Virgin (what?)

The cathedral has several mural-like "portals", corresponding to the three vessels of the nave. Pictured here is the portal of the virgin where if you were to approach the exterior would find a detailed depiction of the death of the Virgin Mary

Let's Just Walk.

Where History Shapes Adaptation

Across the pond, the centuries-old city layouts shape the transit habits of many with few having the luxury to use alternatives. This isn't necessarily a negative however, I found that it actually allows for the 'slowing down' of ones on daily routine

Doing Nothing Is Still Something

Why Not Do It Outside?

A particular favorite iteration of people-watching for me was witnessing residents old and young just park themselves outside really just for the sake of doing so to relax and make conversation, even if it meant just sitting on an old riverside dock
